I have new running friends...

8:30am to meet and run!!! That's the earliest I've got out of bed for days!! but it was windy and fun..
Crawled out of bed, well i crawled and he jumped and then drove ( i know i know) up to Bristol Downs and agreed to meet by the water tower - they originally suggested meeting at the ice cream van - how ironic and very very cruel!!
Sarah & Leanne - my new running buddies.. Sarah and i have known each other for ages and her friend Leanne (who got engaged on Christmas day) ran, they were patient, went at my pace and Sarah had the iphone app - track my run - GENIUS!!

The best thing ever is that she had input the measurement as miles not km so we actually ran further today than I have before...

4 miles = 6.43737 km - woo hoo!!

So lots of new years resolutions and a promise to run weekly with the girls - my new running best friends & to join the local running club...
You've got to admit there has been progress in the recent weeks... only 16 weeks to go until the London Marathon and 10 week to the Bath half....
Happy new year  x

Has it really been ONLY 6 days?

OK OK its been 6 whole days - but here's my excuses..... really horrid head cold - just about got through Christmas (and 14 for dinner) without taking to my bed....this is the first day without any decongestants / tablets!

It did cost me - it hurt! 5K done. Marital relations still in tact... he pushes me further than i would so i know its working... :)
Not sure about his gem of comment - "you've got to get the miles in the legs DC" With only 3.2 miles then that's 23 miles to go - OMG!!
New Years resolutions at the ready..... ready set GO GO GO!!

So less like this.... and More like this....

At least I got new running tights like her's for Christmas!! And my stomach will look that by April 2012...

Friday 23 December 2011

I ran today with my lovely husband, well he was lovely when I started and lovely when we finished - but I've got to say not sure its good for harmony if we run together too often.
You see he's a runner - not me!!
He is focused, disciplined and keeps going - not me!
He said I was grumpy - NOT ME!

Anyway suffice to say harmony was swiftly restored when we got back.

Never one to take any feedback very well, he said that I was faster, ran further and generally better, but I was still too fast and needed to work on my pace. Don't tell anyone but I actually quite enjoyed it.
About 3k and it was raining!!!

Till next time xx

Wednesday 21 December 2011

Does it count??

Does it count if I only ran to the shops for breakfast??

OK so the commitment was I would blog each and every time I ran. Well yesterday literally ran away with me - excuse the pun.

Teenagers asleep until mid day, working my part time career from home - so it is challenging at the moment!! So I was short of time but in the zone - ran down to my local coop to get fresh croissants (their favourite) for the teenagers - their breakfast not mine - but honestly this is progress!! Normally I wouldn't even think twice about popping into the gas guzzler (aka free white ML Mercedes care of Arbonne) and drive there - but it felt kind of good, a little euphoric running back with THEIR calorie laden chocolate croissants!! Oh the life of a teenager on school holidays!

A quick 25 minutes....

Does it matter that it was just a quick 25 minutes? Wanted to clear my head, put my ipod on and listened to an inspirational woman - who transformed her business from $55,000 a month to over $800,000 a month in less than 15 months - WOW!!! What recession???
So the running was easier, a little fast, but definitely doable.

The clothes are ok - CHECK, the trainers ok - CHECK, I'm warm enough - CHECK. Now just need to stop finding excuses and get on with it. Next run with the trainer on Wednesday - Oh happy days!

So that's 3 miles ok and only 23 to get to...

Sunday 18 December 2011

challenging week

trained and ran with the fabulous Kim on Tuesday, forgot to post it - so apologies bloggers... ran for longer, even chatted as I ran  = progress!!
She makes it sound so doable and achievable - going to have to work on the positive mental attitude...

Busy busy week with kids, trip to London and worrying about my lovely Cheesy who was involved in a head on car collision on Monday - he's ok - not much physically wrong but shaken up - the driver who hit him was either asleep or texting which is why he didn't even brake!! Cheesy is blaming hs lack of exercise on the fact that his trainers are still stuck in his now written off car!!Bit a little preoccupied this week so didn't run when i was meant to - i'm preparing myself for the telling off!
Anyway, the good news is that I ran this evening to my parents without stopping = 4K  = PROGRESS!! I know I know but its baby steps...

Till Tuesday morning x

Sunday 11 December 2011

running avoiding the rain....

All kitted out with layers and toasty gloves.. no longer will I have glove envy!

First run in the dark... didn't have a choice! Mad day, off to Heathrow to pick up my daughter's BFF (she's from Auz) - then off to my nephews in Marlow - of the famous "charlie bit my finger" fame and then home. cooking, shopping OMG where does it stop???

I can honestly say if the lovely Kim hadn't sat me down a given me a gentle telling off i probably would have skipped it.. it was raining and dark and cold but by 5 it had just stopped raining - so off we went. My lovely hubby begrudgingly came with me.. and it was easier. Not easy, but easier....

Someone remid me why i didn't start properly training in the summer?? My dad always said I had to learn the hard way..

Rest day tomorrow - woo hoo..

Friday 9 December 2011

running acessories...

OK - so it wasn't too bad and I don't ache AND I have a running plan and got a bit of a talking to this morning but she did it well and was extremely encouraging... and even sent me a motivational text message telling me how well i did.
All great and she really is a lovely person and a great trainer and I trust her judgement, so I will do as i am told.
But here's the thing.. I left thinking i need running accessories as I was COLD this morning... gloves, thermals, a proper long enough running jacket.. maybe a hat?? colours?? style?? accessories?? How shallow was that? I didn't leave thinking about the positive experience, the distance, the cool down or the stretching...

2 runs this weekend planned and off to Moti tomorrow - i can't run in my Jimmy's so off we go to Moti - thanks Kim
